Yale Artificial Intelligence Policy Initiative
Yale’s only student-run AI policy club.
We are a group of students interested in the role of policy and law in reducing risks from AI, including from “frontier models” such as ChatGPT. We run a variety of programs and events to connect and educate students interested in AI policy.

YAIPI Programs & Events
Turing Fellowship
The Turing Fellowship is a crash-course in AI policy. It is a six-week small-group discussion program covering the risks, international policy, and societal implications of AI that culminates in a final project. The Turing Fellowship is for everyone and anyone –– no background required! Apply now for the Fall 2024 cohort! Applications will be accepted until September 18.
Policy Groups
YAIPI policy groups provide opportunities to engage in advocacy on AI policy and impact it. Group members will conduct research for think tanks and academic institutions, create comments in response to government Requests for Information (RFIs), and perform other work to influence and advance knowledge on AI policy. Information about the Fall 2024 policy groups will be circulated shortly.
Sunday Discussion Brunches
Sunday discussion brunches are oriented around a weekly theme, such as U.S.-China AI regulation, AI and the future of work, and whether ChatGPT can reason. They are weekly club meetings that provide a low-stress environment to discuss AI issues with other club members.
Speaker Series
YAIPI invites various speakers for events geared towards our community interests in better understanding AI and policy solutions around it. Many speakers are professors at Yale or affiliates of the the Yale Law School Information Society Project.
